OncologyParamedic Struck Off For Drink Driving Whilst On Call
Paramedic, Mr Jonathan Knight has been struck off the HPC Register after he
was convicted of driving with an alcohol concentration over twice the
prescribed legal limit.
A HPC Conduct and Competence Committee heard that the registrant was
driving an unmarked emergency response vehicle and was on call at the time
he was stopped by police.
HPC Panel Chair, Mr John Williams commented:
"The panel is of the view that the registrant"s conduct fell well below the
standards expected of a health professional and was a very clear breach the
HPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.
"The panel takes a very serious view of the registrant"s conduct, given
that the offence was committed while he was on call, and potentially could
have put patients and members of the public at risk."
The Panel decided to strike Mr Knight from the Register with immediate
effect.
Mr Knight was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
